It’s Fall, Ya’ll!

Crisp air, changing leaves, sweaters and pumpkins! As hard as it is to say goodbye to the warm weather, my heart is feeling warm and cozy as fall moves in! Grab your pumpkins spice latte and let’s get started…

Today I am excited to share with you some ways I bring a little fall into my classroom. Plus, make sure you scroll all the way because I have a fun and new resource for your classroom!

  1. Fall Books! A must for any classroom. A few of my favorite fall read aloud books are…

2. Fall Field Trip! During October and November we study two really fun themes, “Let’s Go To The Farm” and “Harvest Colors”. Luckily both of these themes lend easily to great field trips. Each year my class visits a local farm in October. They have a pumpkin patch, outdoor scavenger hunt, corn maze and perfect picnic area. Getting my little learners outside and soaking up the last bit of warmth before winter is so important. I made the cutest little Animal Family activity for my students and now it is available to you as a NEW FREE RESOURCE. The kiddos each get an animal card and they have to search until they find their animal family group. Then they all make a poster cutting, gluing, coloring and labeling their specific animal family. I even hung their posters up as a cute bulletin board. Click on the resource picture below to download this new fun freebie!

3. Pumpkin Day! Even though we don’t celebrate Halloween at my Christian school, we still love pumpkins! Each year we invite in some parent volunteers and have a day of fun dedicated to all things pumpkin. We weigh pumpkins, paint pumpkins, learn about the pumpkin life cycle, and maybe even have a little candy corn. Some of my favorite resources with pumpkin activities are on my “Literacy and Theme” page. Just scroll down to the bottom and look for the “Fall and Thanksgiving” category.

I hope these ideas help bring a little Fall fun into your classroom this year. I would love to hear how you celebrate Fall in your classroom!

Happy Teaching!
