Football season is in full swing and I have been surprised about how many of my students come in and talk about the Broncos! It seems that they love watching the game with their families at home. So I thought to myself, why not bring some of that fun into the classroom?
We are just starting to count by 10’s and what better than a football field to get us started!
Before the kiddos arrived in the morning, I used my sparkly green washi tape to mark a “football field” on the table. I did take a little liberty by only marking the 50 yard line. Which of course one of my students mentioned to me right away ;0) But regardless, as soon as the kiddos saw the table they were excited to head to that center!
Each kiddo got a teddy bear and placed it in the “end zone”. Then we practiced moving their teddy bears all the way down the field counting by 10’s at each green line.
After a few turns, they counted by 10’s by themselves and then we even had two kiddos moving from either side at the same time.
My students loved playing this game and they got a lot of great counting practice in too! If you are looking for some more football fun I have recently uploaded a “Are You Ready For Some Football?” Math and Literacy Activity product to my Kinderbirdies TPT store. You can check out the entire product by clicking on the picture.
Happy Teaching and Go Broncos!
