Hello World! Plus a Giveaway!

hello world final picHi, I am Mary and I am so excited to start my own Kindergarten teaching blog!  It has been a great year since I started my TPT store and now I am branching into the blogging world too! The world of Kindergarten is full of laughter, love and the occasional outbreak of lice… We teachers have to stick together! I love reading teaching blogs and I am really looking forward to linking up with all the amazing and inspiring teachers out there!

First of all, I would like to give a shout out to Megan at A Bird In Hand Designs!  She made setting up my blog such a fun and creative experience!  She was also very kind when I would ask newbie questions like “what’s a sidebar?” and “does anyone really understand pinterest?”.  I would highly recommend Megan to anyone out there looking to start a blog of their own or get a refreshed look.

Now a little more about me, I am a Kindergarten teacher at a private Christian school in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.  Before teaching the kindies, I taught Pre-K for 4 years, 4th grade for 2 years and my student teaching in 2nd.  I will be going into my fifth year teaching K and I absolutely love it.  I am married with two kids, so I also do a lot of “teaching” at home. Mostly with my husband…

My single most favorite thing about teaching is sharing God’s love with my students.  I also really enjoy creating a welcoming and fun environment where my students can have their first experience in elementary school be wonderful!  I believe that if kiddos can start out on the “right foot” they will carry a love of learning and school with them throughout their academic careers.  I hope this blog can be a great resource for teachers/parents/christian educators, a place to learn together and to give you a little snapshot into my classroom! I look forward to sharing the ups and downs of teaching since as we all know, the #teacherstruggleisreal.

So now onto the real reason you visited the blog today :0)  I (like most teachers!) love free stuff so I thought it would be so cool to start my blog off with a FREE giveaway!  Barnes and Noble is one of my favorite places to go for children’s books.  You can spot a teacher from a mile away because we always go straight to the kid section… grown up books can wait!  So… I will be giving away a $25 dollar Barnes and Noble gift card and you can stock up on some great new books for your classroom!

Here is what you have to do to enter:

  1. Lleave a comment with the title of your favorite children’s book on this post
  2. Follow my TPT store here
  3. Follow me on Facebook and Instagram

I will announce and contact the winner on Friday 7/1!

I would really appreciate any followers, comments and spreading the word about the Kinderbirdies blog!  Thanks so much and Happy Teaching!

Oh that’s a tough one! I like Click, Clack, Moo, (my kids think it is hilarious) and Head to Toe (because the kids get to act it out) to name a few.
